A relatively new breed, the Ragamuffin originated from the Ragdoll cat and was officially regarded as a separate breed in 1994. Unlike the Ragdoll, the Ragamuffin comes in a variety of colours and points.
The Ragamuffin is a large breed with a muscular body and broad chest. Their semi-long to long coat is soft, dense and luxurious and comes in various colours and patterns. Their eyes are oval shaped and expressive, and their ears are set on the sides of their medium sized head. They have a beautiful tail that is long and fluffy.
12 - 14 years
The Ragamuffin is an intelligent, loving and affectionate breed that loves being around people. They make an ideal pet for families with children and are suitable for small house and apartment lifestyle. Although not athletic or energetic like other breeds, the Ragamuffin do enjoy playing and climbing scratching posts. They tend to retain their kitten-like playfulness for a number of years, delaying their maturity.
Being a gentle natured cat, the Ragamuffin should be kept indoors only. They don't possess the defence instincts of most other cats.
As a long haired cat, the Ragamuffin will require daily grooming to avoid matts from forming.
