Head Veterinary Surgeon Prospect

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery

Dr Susan graduated fromthe University of Glasgow in 2004 with a Merit award for Small Animal Clinical Studies.

After spending a year in Manchester (England), she returned to Scotland and spent several years working in clinics across the West of Scotland in Ayrshire and Glasgow.

In 2015, Susan took on her first managerial role in a very busy inner city charity hospital in Glasgow leading a large team of vets providing essential veterinary care for pets of owners who were suffering financial hardship. This position was fast-paced and challenging at times but incredibly rewarding. She then switched pace and was offered the opportunity to manage a struggling small practice in Ayrshire as branch manager and within 9 months was promoted to Clinical Director.

Susan moved to Adelaide in January 2023 with her young family to join the AdelaideVet team and is very excited about their new life here in Australia.

Whilst Susan has enjoyed leading teams of vets and providing support and mentorship to younger colleagues she is at her happiest in the operating theatre. She enjoys both soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery and she has a passion for the treatment of oesteoarthritis and pain management for our older patients. Susan recently completed a course in laparoscopic(keyhole) surgery and is hoping to develop this further in the future.

Before children, Susan used to breed and show Bengal cats but now her 2 young kids take up most of her spare time! As a family they enjoy walking their Welsh Springer Spaniel, Copper and Susan enjoys travel, baking, cooking and photography.
