Give Your Puppy the Best Start in Life

Early training is essential for setting your puppy up for a lifetime of good behavior and positive social experiences. Our puppy training courses are led by our own skilled and experienced AdelaideVet Trainers, ensuring your puppy gets the best guidance from the very beginning.

These classes are specifically designed for puppies aged 8 to 16 weeks—a crucial developmental stage when they’re most receptive to learning. During this period, your puppy will gain vital socialisation skills and learn the foundations of being a happy, well-mannered companion.

Why Puppy Preschool?

Puppies are incredibly impressionable – every interaction they have with you and their environment shapes how they’ll behave as adult dogs. That’s why it’s so important to make the most of this early learning stage, and we’re here to guide you through it.

Our puppy classes are designed to give you the tools and knowledge to teach your puppy how to thrive in our human world. Using positive, reward-based methods, we help you raise a confident, well-mannered dog – while building a strong bond along the way.

Classes provide a safe and structured environment where puppies can socialise and learn essential life skills. To ensure personalised attention, we keep class sizes small, so every puppy (and their owner) gets the support they need.

Unfortunately, thousands of dogs end up in shelters each year due to behavioural issues that often stem from missed early training opportunities. Our mission is to prevent that by giving you and your puppy the best foundation for a lifetime of success.

At AdelaideVet, we use positive reinforcement to encourage the behaviours we want to see – rewarding good choices and gently redirecting unwanted ones. This science-based approach not only promotes lasting learning but also helps create a happier, healthier relationship between you and your pup.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where are the puppy classes held?
Puppy classes are run at all AdelaideVet practices.

  • When are classes held?
Classes are held on different days of the week across our different locations across Adelaide. The course consists of 6 classes which are held over 6 weeks.

  • How old should my puppy be?
Puppies should be between 8 and 16 weeks of age and have had their first vaccination. This is the optimal time for training and ensures all puppies in the class are socialised in a safe environment that is appropriate for their age and size.

  • What do I need to bring to class?
Bring a mat for your dog to settle on and lots and lots of yummy treats – small, soft and easy to chew quickly! (Like boiled chicken pieces).

  • Should I feed my puppy before class?
Preferably not. Puppies like to sleep after a meal and they are less responsive to treats which are used as a form of positive reinforcement during class.

  • How do I book my puppy into a class?
